The NIBCO I030500 is an ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) drain, waste, and vent (DWV) adapter fitting designed to transition between a hub socket connection and a male iron pipe thread (MIPT) end. Sized at 1-1/2 inches, this adapter is used to connect hub-entry pipe or fittings to threaded pipe or components within residential and light commercial DWV systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting during rough-in work or repairs where a solvent-weld hub must interface with a threaded male connection. Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable plumbing code (IPC or local equivalent). Solvent-cement the hub end to the ABS pipe using an ABS-rated cement after cutting pipe square and deburring the end. Hand-tighten the MIPT connection to the mating female thread, then apply thread sealant tape or compound rated for plastic fittings before final tightening. Do not over-torque the threaded joint, as ABS fittings are not rated for the same mechanical stress as metal pipe fittings.
