The NIBCO CN01950 is a 90-degree elbow socket fitting designed for use in Schedule 80 polypropylene piping systems. It provides a quarter-turn change of direction in pressure-rated pipe runs and is built from polypropylene for resistance to corrosion, chemicals, and moisture. End connections are Slip x SR FIPT, allowing one socket end to accept a solvent-welded pipe insertion and one threaded end for connection to a female iron pipe thread fitting. At 0.06 pounds, it is a lightweight component suited for both overhead and in-wall installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary trade for this type of fitting.
This fitting is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where polypropylene Schedule 80 pipe is specified. Common applications include chemical drainage, irrigation supply lines, industrial process piping, and any system requiring a corrosion-resistant thermoplastic fitting at a 90-degree turn. The Slip x SR FIPT connection style makes it compatible with standard Schedule 80 polypropylene pipe on the socket end and a female threaded port on the SR FIPT end.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/2 inch Schedule 80 polypropylene piping systems using Slip x SR FIPT end connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing codes. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into any existing pipe run. The socket end requires appropriate solvent cement rated for polypropylene; do not use PVC or CPVC cement on this fitting. Verify thread engagement and use suitable thread sealant on the SR FIPT connection before pressurizing the system.
