The NIBCO CE04400 is a Schedule 80 PVDF threaded union designed for 1-1/2 inch pipe systems requiring chemically resistant, high-integrity connections. PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic rated for aggressive chemical service, making this union a go-to choice where standard PVC or CPVC would be unsuitable. The female iron pipe thread (FIPT) connections on both ends allow the union to mate with standard threaded plastic or compatible metal pipe. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters install this type of fitting when systems need to be periodically broken apart for maintenance or equipment removal without cutting pipe.
This union is suited for industrial process piping, chemical transfer lines, water treatment systems, and high-purity fluid handling applications where PVDF is specified. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional pressure capability compared to Schedule 40 fittings, making it appropriate for systems that operate at elevated pressures or where mechanical strength is a priority. It is sold individually.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/2 inch Schedule 80 PVDF threaded piping systems with FIPT end connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter familiar with plastic threaded fittings. Use PTFE thread tape or a sealant rated for PVDF and the specific media being conveyed — do not use petroleum-based pipe dopes that can attack thermoplastics. Depressurize and drain the system completely before disassembling or installing the union. Hand-tighten first, then apply only moderate wrench torque, as overtightening PVDF threaded fittings can cause cracking.
