The NIBCO CE03040 is a PVDF plastic flush socket reducer bushing designed for Schedule 80 piping systems. It transitions from a 1-inch spigot end to a 0.5-inch socket end, allowing techs to reduce pipe diameter within a run without adding extra fittings. PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) offers strong chemical resistance and performs reliably in demanding fluid-handling environments. This bushing meets ASTM D3222 standards and is suited for installations where material compatibility with aggressive media is a priority.
This fitting is used in industrial, commercial, and process piping systems where Schedule 80 PVDF plastic pipe is specified. Typical applications include chemical processing lines, high-purity fluid systems, and corrosive-media handling in facilities that require a plastic alternative to metal fittings. The SPIG x S end connection configuration makes it a straightforward drop-in reducer within a socket-welded system.
Designed for use with Schedule 80 PVDF plastic piping systems using socket-end connections. Fits a 1-inch spigot into a 0.5-inch socket configuration per ASTM D3222 standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter familiar with plastic piping and solvent or thermal socket-welding procedures for PVDF. Isolate and depressurize the piping system and allow it to cool before beginning work. Follow all applicable codes including IPC requirements for plastic piping systems. Do not apply excessive mechanical force to the fitting during assembly, as PVDF can crack under stress if misaligned.
