The NIBCO CE01400 is a 1-1/2 inch Schedule 80 90-degree elbow fitting manufactured from PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride), a high-performance thermoplastic suited for demanding chemical and industrial piping systems. The fitting connects via Slip x SR FIPT end connections, allowing a solvent-weld socket on one end and a socket-reinforced female iron pipe thread on the other. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added pressure rating and mechanical strength compared to Schedule 40. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipe fitters install this fitting in systems where chemical resistance, UV stability, and elevated temperature performance are required.
This elbow is used in chemical process piping, ultrapure water systems, and industrial fluid handling applications where standard PVC or CPVC materials are insufficient. The PVDF material handles a broad range of aggressive chemicals including chlorine, acids, and solvents. It is appropriate for both above-ground and exposed installations where UV resistance matters. Typical settings include manufacturing facilities, water treatment plants, laboratories, and semiconductor fabrication environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVDF piping systems with 1-1/2 inch nominal pipe size.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified industrial pipe fitter familiar with thermoplastic piping systems. Solvent-cement the slip end using a PVDF-compatible cement and primer; follow solvent cure times before pressurizing the line. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing piping. Consult applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM guidelines for pressure ratings at operating temperature, as PVDF fittings lose pressure capacity at elevated temperatures.
