The NIBCO CD04150 is a Schedule 80 PVDF socket union designed for 1-1/2 inch plastic piping systems. It features Slip x SR FIPT end connections, allowing a solvent-weld socket on one side and a female iron pipe thread on the other. PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) offers strong resistance to a wide range of aggressive chemicals, making this union well suited for industrial and chemical-process piping where corrosion resistance and purity are critical. The red color provides quick visual identification on the line. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters typically install this fitting in chemical feed, high-purity water, and similar specialty fluid-handling systems.
This union is intended for use in Schedule 80 plastic piping systems handling corrosive or high-purity fluids in industrial, commercial, and laboratory environments. The SR (square root) FIPT thread profile is compatible with standard female iron pipe thread connections on the mating side. Its Schedule 80 wall thickness supports higher-pressure applications compared to Schedule 40 fittings, making it appropriate for demanding process piping installations where standard PVC or CPVC materials are not chemically suitable.

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter familiar with plastic piping systems and applicable codes such as the IPC. Depressurize and drain the line completely before disassembling the union or making any connections. Use only PVDF-compatible solvent cement on the slip socket side and apply thread sealant rated for use with plastic fittings on the FIPT side. Avoid over-tightening threaded connections, as PVDF is rigid but can crack under excessive mechanical stress.
