The NIBCO CD03946 is a Schedule 80 PVDF threaded pipe nipple designed for demanding fluid handling and piping system applications. Constructed from polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), this nipple offers strong resistance to a wide range of chemicals, making it well suited for corrosive-fluid service where standard thermoplastic or metal fittings fall short. The 2-inch pipe size and 4-inch length make it a practical short-run connector between threaded fittings, valves, or equipment in process and industrial piping. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides the added pressure rating that high-purity and chemical-process systems demand. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This nipple is used in chemical processing, water treatment, semiconductor fabrication, and industrial fluid handling systems where chemical inertness and pressure integrity are required. PVDF is commonly selected for aggressive acids, bases, and solvents. The Schedule 80 rating supports elevated working pressures compared to Schedule 40 alternatives. The red color coding aids in quick visual identification of PVDF components within a multi-material piping system, helping technicians distinguish material type at a glance during maintenance and inspection.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for Schedule 80 PVDF threaded piping systems using standard NPT threaded fittings in 2-inch pipe size.
Installation of PVDF threaded nipples is typically performed by licensed plumbers or qualified industrial pipefitters in accordance with applicable plumbing and process piping codes. Depressurize and drain the system fully before removing or installing any threaded component. Use PTFE thread tape rated for PVDF and chemical service — avoid thread sealant compounds that may be incompatible with PVDF. Do not over-torque threaded plastic fittings, as plastic threads are susceptible to cracking under excessive force.
