The NIBCO CD03900 is a Schedule 80 PVDF threaded pipe nipple designed for demanding fluid-handling applications where chemical resistance and mechanical strength are required. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) construction provides exceptional resistance to a wide range of aggressive chemicals, making this nipple suitable for high-purity, corrosive, or chemical process piping systems. The red color coding aids in quick visual identification on the job. At 1-1/2 inches pipe size and Schedule 80 wall thickness, it delivers greater pressure-bearing capability than Schedule 40 alternatives. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters handling industrial or chemical service lines are the primary installers of this component.
This nipple is used in commercial and industrial piping installations where metal fittings are incompatible with the conveyed media. Typical applications include chemical processing lines, semiconductor fabrication facilities, water treatment systems, and laboratory plumbing where PVDF's chemical inertness and temperature stability are critical. The threaded end connections allow for direct assembly into Schedule 80 PVDF threaded fittings and valves without solvent cement, simplifying assembly in tight spaces or retrofit situations.

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with plastic threaded piping systems. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded components. Use PTFE thread tape or a thread sealant rated for PVDF and the specific media being conveyed — avoid pipe dopes containing solvents that may degrade PVDF. Do not overtighten threaded connections; hand-tight plus one to two turns with a strap wrench is typical practice to avoid cracking the fitting body.
