The NIBCO CD03855 is a Schedule 80 PVDF threaded pipe nipple designed for high-pressure and high-temperature fluid handling applications. Constructed from polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), this nipple delivers strong chemical resistance, making it suitable for aggressive media transfer in industrial and commercial piping systems. It features male NPT (MNPT) threads and carries a maximum working pressure of 1360 psi with a maximum working temperature of 280 degrees F. The red color coding aids in quick visual identification during system assembly and maintenance. Plumbers and pipefitters working on chemical process, high-purity, or industrial water systems are the primary installers of this fitting.
This nipple is intended for use in Schedule 80 plastic piping systems where chemical resistance, elevated pressure ratings, and temperature tolerance are required. Typical applications include chemical processing lines, semiconductor fabrication water systems, laboratory plumbing, and industrial process piping. It conforms to ASTM D3222, the standard specification for unmodified PVDF molding extrusion and coating materials. Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic Schedule 80 systems. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Use PTFE thread tape or a PVDF-compatible thread sealant rated for the media being conveyed — do not use petroleum-based compounds on PVDF threads. Hand-tighten first, then apply minimal additional turns with a strap wrench to avoid over-torquing and cracking the fitting.
