The NIBCO CD03770 is a Schedule 80 PVDF threaded pipe nipple designed for use in demanding fluid handling and industrial piping systems. Measuring 1/2 inch in pipe diameter and 4 inches in length, this nipple is molded from polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), a high-performance thermoplastic that resists corrosion, UV exposure, and a wide range of aggressive chemicals. The red color coding aids in quick visual identification on the job. Plumbers and industrial piping contractors install this fitting wherever a short, threaded connection is needed between components in a corrosion-resistant plastic piping system.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial applications where standard metal or lower-grade plastic fittings are not chemically compatible with the conveyed fluid. Typical install scenarios include chemical processing lines, high-purity water systems, and industrial process piping. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional strength compared to Schedule 40, making it appropriate for moderate-pressure service. It accepts standard NPT-threaded fittings on both ends.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVDF threaded piping systems using 1/2 inch NPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified piping contractor familiar with plastic threaded fittings. Hand-tighten first, then use strap wrenches rated for plastic pipe — never use metal pipe wrenches directly on PVDF fittings, as they can crack the material. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Follow applicable IPC and local plumbing codes for plastic piping thread engagement and support spacing.
