The NIBCO CD03450 is a flush threaded reducer bushing manufactured from PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) thermoplastic, rated for Schedule 80 service. It reduces a 2-inch male iron pipe thread (MIPT) connection down to a 1.5-inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) in a flush-mount profile that keeps the fitting compact within tight piping assemblies. PVDF offers strong resistance to a wide range of aggressive chemicals, making this bushing a practical choice for chemical processing, industrial fluid handling, and high-purity water systems. The red color coding provides quick visual identification during installation and inspection. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters are the typical installers for this type of fitting.
This reducer bushing is suited for Schedule 80 plastic piping systems that require a step-down transition between a 2-inch and 1.5-inch threaded connection. Common applications include chemical distribution lines, industrial process piping, laboratory plumbing, and corrosive-fluid handling systems where metal fittings would be unsuitable. The flush bushing design allows for installation in confined spaces or panel-mounted configurations where a hex bushing profile would be impractical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVDF threaded piping systems using standard NPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic threaded fittings. PVDF fittings require PTFE thread tape rather than pipe dope, as solvent-based sealants can damage the material. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as PVDF is more brittle than metal and can crack under excessive force. Depressurize and drain the line fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting.
