The NIBCO CD03400 is a flush threaded reducer bushing manufactured from PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride), a high-performance thermoplastic used in demanding chemical and industrial piping systems. This fitting transitions from a 2-inch male iron pipe thread (MIPT) on the outer end to a 1-inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) on the inner end, reducing line size within a threaded system while keeping the face of the bushing flush. Built to Schedule 80 wall thickness standards, it delivers the pressure ratings and dimensional consistency that industrial and chemical process piping requires. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters are the typical installers of this type of fitting.
The CD03400 is suited for applications where chemical resistance is critical, including chemical processing lines, high-purity water systems, semiconductor fabrication, and wastewater treatment piping. PVDF is resistant to a broad range of acids, bases, and solvents, making this bushing appropriate where standard PVC or CPVC fittings would degrade. Its red color distinguishes it from other thermoplastic Schedule 80 fittings on the job site. It is designed for use in above-ground and in-wall threaded plastic piping systems operating within the pressure-temperature ratings of Schedule 80 PVDF.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for Schedule 80 PVDF threaded piping systems using 2-inch to 1-inch reducing configurations with standard NPT thread profiles.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified industrial pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic threaded fittings. Depressurize and drain the line fully before disassembling any section of the piping system. Use PTFE thread tape rated for PVDF compatibility and avoid over-torquing, as excessive force can crack thermoplastic threads. Follow applicable plumbing codes and the fitting manufacturer's pressure-temperature derating tables for the specific fluid and operating conditions.
