The NIBCO CD03150 is a flush socket reducer bushing manufactured from PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) thermoplastic, designed to reduce a 2-inch pipe connection down to a 1-inch socket fitting within a Schedule 80 piping system. Identified by its red color for easy material identification, this bushing features a spigot (SPIG) inlet and a socket (S) outlet end connection. PVDF is a high-purity, chemically resistant thermoplastic well suited for aggressive fluid handling environments. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in systems where Schedule 80 plastic piping is required for pressure or chemical resistance applications.
This reducer bushing is used in residential and commercial piping systems handling corrosive chemicals, high-purity water, or other fluids incompatible with metal fittings. The SPIG x S end connection style allows it to be solvent-cemented directly into standard Schedule 80 socket fittings. Depressurize and drain the piping system completely before cutting into any existing line. Use only PVDF-compatible solvent cement and primer as specified by the fitting manufacturer and per applicable plumbing code requirements. Do not apply heat to accelerate curing, as this can compromise joint integrity in PVDF assemblies.
