The NIBCO CD03100 is a Schedule 80 flush socket reducer bushing made from PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride), a high-performance thermoplastic suited for demanding industrial and chemical piping systems. This bushing reduces a 1-1/2-inch socket to a 1-inch socket using a spigot by socket (SPIG x S) end connection configuration. PVDF offers excellent resistance to a wide range of corrosive chemicals, UV exposure, and elevated temperatures, making it a preferred material where standard PVC or CPVC would degrade. It is colored red for easy system identification. Plumbers and pipefitters working in industrial or process piping applications use this fitting where size transitions are required within Schedule 80 plastic systems.
This reducer bushing is suited for use in industrial process piping, chemical handling systems, water treatment facilities, and other applications where corrosion-resistant Schedule 80 plastic fittings are specified. The flush socket design seats cleanly inside a Schedule 80 socket fitting, providing a smooth transition without protruding into the flow path. The SPIG x S configuration allows the bushing spigot to insert into a larger socket fitting while accepting a smaller pipe or fitting into its own socket end.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with Schedule 80 PVDF plastic piping systems using standard socket-style fittings in 1-1/2-inch and 1-inch pipe sizes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic solvent-cement joining procedures for PVDF piping systems. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing line. Use only PVDF-compatible solvent cement and primers as specified by the fitting and cement manufacturers — standard PVC or CPVC cements are not suitable for PVDF. Follow applicable plumbing codes, including IPC requirements, for plastic piping in the intended service environment.
