The NIBCO CD02400 is a Schedule 80 PVDF hex plug designed to terminate 1-1/2 inch threaded pipe runs in demanding industrial and chemical process piping systems. PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) is a high-performance thermoplastic that resists aggressive chemicals, UV exposure, and elevated temperatures, making it the preferred material where standard PVC or CPVC would degrade. The plug uses male NPT (MIPT) threading on both ends and is rated for use up to 280 degrees F. It is typically installed by pipefitters and plumbers working on chemical feed lines, high-purity water systems, and corrosive fluid handling applications.
This hex plug is suited for residential and commercial piping installations where chemical resistance and thermal tolerance are required. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added pressure-handling capability over Schedule 40 fittings. The red color provides visual identification common to PVDF Schedule 80 fittings, helping technicians distinguish material type during inspection and maintenance. Applications include chemical processing, semiconductor fabrication, water treatment, and industrial fluid systems where metal fittings would corrode or contaminate the process.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with 1-1/2 inch Schedule 80 PVDF threaded piping systems using Male NPT connections per ASTM D3222.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic threaded fittings. Depressurize and drain the line completely before removing or installing any threaded plug. Apply an appropriate thread sealant rated for use with PVDF and the specific process fluid — do not use sealants that contain solvents incompatible with polyvinylidene fluoride. Consult applicable codes such as IPC or IFGC and the system design engineer for pressure and chemical compatibility requirements before installation.
