The NIBCO CD02250 is a 1/2 inch Schedule 80 hex plug manufactured from PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) thermoplastic. It features male iron pipe thread (MIPT) connections and is used to seal or blank off the end of a threaded pipe or fitting. PVDF offers superior chemical resistance compared to PVC or CPVC, making this plug appropriate for aggressive fluid handling systems where standard plastics are unsuitable. The red color coding identifies the Schedule 80 pressure rating. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This hex plug is suited for use in chemical process piping, industrial fluid distribution, and laboratory plumbing systems where high chemical resistance is required. Schedule 80 PVDF fittings are commonly found in commercial and industrial installations handling acids, bases, solvents, and other corrosive media. The MIPT end connection threads directly into a female-threaded pipe end, port, or fitting body to provide a secure, leak-resistant seal.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVDF threaded piping systems with 1/2 inch female-threaded ports or pipe ends.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or industrial pipefitters. Shut off and depressurize the affected piping system completely before installing or removing threaded plugs. Apply an appropriate thread sealant rated for PVDF and the specific fluid service before threading in the plug. Do not overtighten, as plastic threads can crack under excessive torque; snug plus a controlled number of turns is the standard approach for plastic fittings per manufacturer guidance.
