The NIBCO CD00400 is a Schedule 80 PVDF pipe coupling designed for joining 1-1/2 inch pipe sections in demanding chemical and industrial fluid handling systems. PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) offers high resistance to corrosive chemicals, UV exposure, and elevated temperatures, making this coupling a reliable choice where standard PVC or CPVC fittings are not rated for the service. The FIPT x FIPT end connections accept male-threaded pipe from both sides for a secure, sealed joint. At 0.49 pounds, the fitting is lightweight for its size without sacrificing the structural integrity required in Schedule 80 service. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters are the typical installers.
This coupling is suited for residential and commercial chemical distribution lines, high-purity water systems, semiconductor fabrication piping, laboratory plumbing, and other applications where aggressive media or strict contamination requirements rule out metallic or standard thermoplastic fittings. The red color identifies PVDF material on sight, supporting proper system documentation and maintenance. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40, which is important in pressurized process lines.

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic threaded fittings and applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. De-pressurize and drain the line completely before removing any existing fitting or making new connections. Use PTFE thread tape or a compatible thread sealant rated for PVDF and the specific media being conveyed — do not use sealants that degrade PVDF or introduce contamination. Avoid over-torquing threaded PVDF fittings, as the material can crack under excessive mechanical stress.
