The NIBCO CD00350 is a Schedule 80 PVDF pipe coupling designed for joining 1-inch threaded pipe runs in demanding fluid-handling systems. PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) is a high-performance thermoplastic with strong resistance to corrosive chemicals, UV exposure, and elevated service temperatures, making it a preferred material in industrial and commercial plumbing, chemical processing lines, and water treatment applications. Both end connections are FIPT (female iron pipe thread), allowing direct threaded installation onto standard NPT male-threaded pipe or fittings. The red color coding visually identifies the Schedule 80 pressure rating. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters working with corrosive or high-purity fluid systems are the primary installers of this fitting.
This coupling is suited for applications where standard PVC or CPVC fittings are not adequate for the chemical or thermal demands of the system. Typical installations include chemical feed lines, deionized water systems, industrial process piping, and laboratory plumbing. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides a higher pressure rating compared to Schedule 40 fittings of the same size, which is relevant in pressurized process lines. The 1-inch fitting size is a common nominal pipe size across both residential and light commercial system layouts.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded coupling for 1-inch Schedule 80 PVDF plastic piping systems using NPT-compatible male-threaded pipe or fittings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic threaded piping systems. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before removing any existing fitting or making new connections. Use PTFE thread sealant tape rated for use with PVDF and fluoropolymer materials — avoid petroleum-based pipe dopes that may degrade the plastic. Do not overtighten threaded PVDF fittings; hand-tighten plus one to two turns with a strap wrench is the standard practice to prevent cracking the fitting body.
