The NIBCO CD00250 is a Schedule 80 PVDF pipe coupling designed for joining 1/2 inch pipe in demanding fluid-handling systems. PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) is a high-performance thermoplastic that resists a broad range of aggressive chemicals, making this coupling a reliable choice where standard PVC or CPVC would degrade. The female iron pipe thread (FIPT x FIPT) end connections allow the fitting to thread directly onto male-threaded pipe or nipples without solvent welding. At 0.115 pounds, the fitting is lightweight while maintaining the structural integrity expected of a Schedule 80 wall thickness. Plumbers and pipefitters typically specify this coupling in chemical process lines, ultrapure water systems, and industrial fluid transfer applications.
This coupling is suited for residential and commercial plumbing systems where chemical resistance and pressure performance beyond Schedule 40 ratings are required. Common install scenarios include chemical feed lines, laboratory plumbing, semiconductor facility piping, and industrial process systems that handle acids, bases, or solvents incompatible with metal fittings. Installation of threaded PVDF fittings should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with plastic pipe systems. PTFE thread tape rated for chemical service is recommended on all male NPT threads before assembly — do not use paste-type pipe dope unless confirmed compatible with PVDF. Hand-tighten first, then apply only minimal additional torque; over-tightening threaded plastic fittings can cause cracking at the thread root. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before making any connections or disconnections.
