The NIBCO CC05550 is a Schedule 80 flush reducer bushing designed for reducing pipe size within a threaded piping system. Molded from black polypropylene, it connects a 2-inch male iron pipe thread (MIPT) on the outer end to a 1-inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) on the inner end. The flush bushing profile sits flat inside a fitting socket, keeping the reduction compact and inline. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides the pressure rating and durability required for industrial, chemical, and commercial plumbing applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting when downsizing threaded lines in corrosive or chemical service environments where polypropylene is the specified material.
This bushing is suited for residential and commercial plumbing systems, chemical distribution lines, and industrial process piping where threaded polypropylene fittings are required. Its black polypropylene construction resists many acids, bases, and industrial chemicals, making it a common choice for laboratory plumbing, irrigation manifolds, and drainage systems that call for Schedule 80 plastic threaded fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 threaded polypropylene piping systems using standard NPT connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before disassembling any threaded connections. Apply an appropriate thread sealant tape or compound rated for polypropylene and the service fluid before making up the threads. Do not over-torque polypropylene fittings, as the material is more notch-sensitive than metal and can crack under excessive wrench force.
