The NIBCO CC05500 is a Schedule 80 flush reducer bushing designed to reduce a 1.5-inch male iron pipe thread (MIPT) connection down to a 1.25-inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) connection. Constructed from black polypropylene, this bushing offers good chemical resistance and is suited for industrial and commercial piping systems handling corrosive fluids, water, and drainage applications. The flush-style design keeps the fitting compact within the run of pipe. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers, particularly in chemical process lines, industrial drain systems, and general Schedule 80 plastic piping assemblies.
This reducer bushing fits into standard Schedule 80 polypropylene piping systems where a threaded size reduction is needed in-line or at a transition point. Its MIPT x FIPT end connections allow it to thread directly into Schedule 80 female-threaded fittings or valves on one end and accept a male-threaded fitting or pipe nipple on the other. Typical applications include chemical distribution, industrial water treatment, and process piping where metal fittings are not suitable due to corrosion concerns.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 polypropylene threaded piping systems using standard NPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant compatible with polypropylene before assembly. Do not use pipe wrenches in a manner that overtorques the fitting, as polypropylene threads can crack under excessive mechanical force. Verify system pressure and chemical compatibility against the fitting rating before placing the line into service.
