The NIBCO CC05100 is a flush socket reducer bushing designed for use in Schedule 80 polypropylene piping systems. It transitions from a 4-inch spigot (SPG) end to a 3-inch socket (S) end, allowing a reduction in pipe size within the same run without adding significant length to the assembly. The black polypropylene construction resists a wide range of corrosive chemicals, making this fitting a common choice in industrial process piping, chemical handling, and wastewater applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically install this component as part of larger thermoplastic piping systems where Schedule 80 pressure ratings and chemical resistance are required.
This reducer bushing is suited for applications where a flush-style fitting is preferred over a standard hex bushing, providing a cleaner transition and reduced turbulence at the reduction point. It is appropriate for use in residential and commercial systems handling corrosive fluids, acids, or alkalis where metal fittings are not suitable. The SPG x S end configuration allows the bushing to seat directly inside a same-size socket fitting, integrating cleanly into Schedule 80 solvent-weld piping assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 polypropylene solvent-weld piping systems using 4-inch to 3-inch spigot-by-socket end connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic solvent-weld procedures. Depressurize and drain the piping system fully before cutting into any existing line. Use only solvent cement rated for polypropylene; standard PVC or CPVC cements are not compatible with polypropylene and will result in joint failure. Follow applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements for plastic piping in the intended service environment.
