The NIBCO CC05050 is a Schedule 80 flush socket reducer bushing designed to transition between a 3-inch and 2-inch pipe in pressure-rated thermoplastic piping systems. Molded from black polypropylene, this bushing uses a spigot (SPG) male end on the larger side and a socket (S) female end on the smaller side, allowing a clean inline reduction without additional fittings. Its Schedule 80 wall thickness provides the pressure handling and chemical resistance required in industrial, commercial, and process piping applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers for this type of fitting.
This bushing fits into Schedule 80 polypropylene socket-weld systems where a step-down in pipe diameter is required within the same fitting body. Common install scenarios include chemical process lines, industrial drainage, and corrosion-resistant fluid transfer systems where standard metal fittings are not suitable. The flush design seats directly inside a socket fitting, keeping the transition compact and inline.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for 3-inch x 2-inch Schedule 80 polypropylene socket-weld piping systems using SPG x S end connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic solvent-cement or socket-fusion joining methods applicable to polypropylene systems. Depressurize and drain the line completely before cutting in or replacing any fitting. Follow all applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements for solvent joining, cure times, and pressure testing. Do not apply heat beyond the rated limits of polypropylene, and avoid over-insertion that can restrict interior flow.
