The NIBCO CC04900 is a Schedule 80 flush socket reducer bushing designed to transition between 1-1/2-inch and 1-inch pipe in plastic piping systems. Molded from black polypropylene, this bushing offers solid chemical and corrosion resistance suited to industrial and commercial plumbing, chemical handling, and process piping applications. The SPG x S (spigot by socket) end connection allows it to seat flush inside a fitting socket, maintaining a clean, low-profile transition. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of reducer bushing when a branch or secondary line needs to step down in size without adding an extra coupling or offset in the run.
This bushing is appropriate for Schedule 80 polypropylene piping systems where a reduction from 1-1/2 inches to 1 inch is required in-line or at a fitting. Typical installations include chemical feed lines, industrial process systems, irrigation sub-mains, and commercial plumbing where polypropylene is specified for its resistance to acids, bases, and elevated service temperatures. The black color is standard for Schedule 80 polypropylene fittings and is not an indication of UV rating.

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter familiar with plastic pipe solvent-cement or socket-fusion procedures as applicable to polypropylene systems. Depressurize and drain the line fully before cutting or disassembling existing pipe. Follow the pipe and fitting manufacturer solvent-cement or fusion guidelines along with applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Do not over-ream or force-fit the spigot end, as polypropylene fittings are not designed for mechanical interference correction after molding.
