The NIBCO CC03550 is a Schedule 80 polypropylene hex plug designed to cap or close off threaded pipe ends in industrial and commercial plumbing systems. Rated for service up to 180 degrees F, this fitting uses a Male NPT (MNPT) connection and is manufactured from black polypropylene to resist corrosion and chemical exposure. The hex-head design allows installation with standard hand tools without requiring pipe wrenches on the fitting body itself. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of plug during pressure testing, system isolation, or permanent line termination on Schedule 80 thermoplastic piping systems.
This hex plug is suited for use in corrosive fluid handling, chemical distribution, irrigation, and industrial process piping where Schedule 80 rated thermoplastic fittings are required. The 1/2 inch MPT end connection makes it compatible with standard NPT-threaded Schedule 80 pipe and fittings. Its black polypropylene construction is appropriate for applications where metal fittings would be unsuitable due to chemical or environmental conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard component for Schedule 80 thermoplastic NPT-threaded piping systems. Compatible with 1/2 inch female NPT (FNPT) threaded fittings, valves, and pipe ends conforming to standard NPT thread specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Shut off system pressure and depressurize the line fully before removing or installing any threaded plug. Apply PTFE tape or an approved thread sealant compatible with polypropylene to the male threads before engagement. Do not overtighten — polypropylene threads can crack under excessive torque; hand-tight plus a measured additional turn with a wrench is the general practice for plastic NPT fittings.
