The NIBCO CC00000 is a 1/2 inch Schedule 80 socket coupling made from black polypropylene, designed to join two sections of plastic pipe in chemical, industrial, and plumbing piping systems. It features a Slip x SR FIPT end connection configuration, allowing one socket end to accept a plain pipe and the other to receive a standard female iron pipe thread. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure ratings and mechanical strength compared to Schedule 40 fittings. This coupling is suited for applications where corrosion resistance and chemical compatibility are priorities. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters are the typical installers for this type of fitting.
This coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, industrial process piping, and chemical handling systems where polypropylene is specified for its resistance to acids, bases, and many solvents. The black coloring is standard for Schedule 80 polypropylene fittings. At 1/2 inch, this fitting is commonly found in branch lines, instrumentation connections, and low-flow distribution runs. It is appropriate for both above-ground and concealed installations where the system design calls for polypropylene material.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/2 inch Schedule 80 polypropylene piping systems using Slip x SR FIPT end connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipe fitter following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Depressurize and drain the system completely before cutting into existing piping. Socket ends require proper solvent cement rated for polypropylene; do not substitute PVC or CPVC cement. Threaded connections should be made with PTFE tape or a compatible thread sealant and tightened to the fitting manufacturer guidelines without over-torquing the plastic threads.
