The NIBCO b179400 is a cast copper flush bushing designed to reduce from a 1-1/4 inch sweat fitting (FTG) connection to a 3/4 inch female pipe thread (FPT) connection. This fitting allows a technician to transition between a solder-joint copper line and a threaded female port within the same assembly. Cast copper construction provides the durability and pressure resistance required in plumbing, HVAC hydronic, and refrigeration piping systems. Licensed plumbers and HVAC pipefitters install this type of bushing wherever a size reduction and a sweat-to-thread transition are needed at a single connection point.
This flush bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems, hydronic heating loops, and copper distribution piping where a 1-1/4 inch sweat fitting end must connect to a 3/4 inch female-threaded component such as a valve, gauge, or threaded fitting. The sweat FTG end is sized to slip inside a standard 1-1/4 inch copper fitting socket, making it compatible with standard copper tube and fitting assemblies following ASME B16.22 dimensional standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 1-1/4 inch copper sweat fitting assemblies requiring a 3/4 inch female NPT threaded outlet.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC pipefitter. Shut off and depressurize the system and drain standing water before soldering. Clean and flux both the FTG end and the receiving fitting socket before applying heat to ensure a leak-free solder joint. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to the male fitting being threaded into the FPT end and tighten per applicable IPC or IFGC guidelines.
