The NIBCO b179300 is a cast copper flush bushing designed to reduce from a 3/4-inch sweat fitting (FTG) connection to a 3/8-inch female pipe thread (FPT) connection. This fitting is used to transition between copper sweat systems and threaded pipe connections within a single compact component. The flush bushing profile keeps the reduction close and tight, minimizing added length in tight installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial potable water, hydronic heating, and refrigeration piping systems where a threaded-to-sweat transition is required.
This bushing is suited for installations where a sweat-side inlet must connect to a female-threaded outlet, such as transitioning from copper branch lines to threaded valves, gauges, or threaded fittings. The 3/4-inch sweat end accepts standard copper tubing and is soldered in place, while the 3/8-inch FPT end accepts a male-threaded component. It is appropriate for both new construction rough-in work and retrofit plumbing repairs requiring a size reduction with a thread transition.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-fit component for copper sweat piping systems requiring a 3/4-inch to 3/8-inch sweat-to-female-thread reduction bushing.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and fully drain the line before soldering to ensure a dry, clean joint. Clean and flux all sweat surfaces before applying heat, and allow the joint to cool completely before restoring pressure. Thread connections should be made with appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape on the male threads before engagement.
