The NIBCO B160400 is a cast copper pressure tee fitting used to create branch connections in copper piping systems. It features a 1 inch by 3/4 inch by 1 inch configuration with a C x F x C end connection pattern, meaning the run connections are sweat (solder) ends and the branch outlet is a female threaded connection. This combination allows a mixed-joint installation where the branch transitions from a soldered run to a threaded outlet. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in residential and light commercial water supply, heating, and hydronic distribution systems where branch takeoffs require a threaded connection on the outlet side.
This tee is suited for pressure piping applications in potable water supply lines, hot and cold distribution systems, and hydronic heating loops. The cast copper construction provides reliable performance in high-cycle, pressure-rated environments. The C x F x C configuration is commonly used where a threaded valve, gauge, or component connects at the branch while maintaining soldered continuity along the main run. Typical install scenarios include manifold assemblies, boiler supply and return piping, and fixture branch connections.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for copper pressure piping systems using standard 1 inch and 3/4 inch copper tube sizes conforming to ASTM B88 dimensional standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the water supply and drain the affected line before cutting or soldering. Clean and flux all sweat connection surfaces before applying heat; use lead-free solder for potable water applications as required by code. Ensure the female threaded branch connection is sealed with an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid before assembling the threaded component.
