The NIBCO B147550 is a cast copper pressure tee fitting used to branch a run of copper pipe in potable water, hydronic heating, and general plumbing distribution systems. The fitting measures 2 inches by 2 inches on the run with a 3/4 inch branch outlet. End connections are configured C x C x F, meaning the two run ends accept sweat solder joints while the branch outlet is a female threaded connection. Cast copper construction provides the wall thickness and structural integrity required for pressure service. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both residential and light commercial systems.
This tee is suited for pressure piping applications where a full-size 2 inch main line requires a reduced 3/4 inch threaded branch takeoff. Typical scenarios include hydronic heating distribution headers, domestic hot and cold water mains, and mechanical room piping where a threaded instrument tap, valve, or sensor port is needed at the branch. The female threaded branch allows a standard male NPT fitting, valve, or gauge to thread directly into the tee without an additional adapter.
Designed as an OEM-style pressure fitting compatible with standard 2 inch copper tubing on the run connections and 3/4 inch male NPT threaded components at the branch outlet, consistent with IPC and IFGC copper pressure piping systems.
Installation of this fitting is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with the International Plumbing Code. The system must be depressurized and drained before cutting into an existing line. Run ends are joined using standard sweat solder technique — clean and flux all mating surfaces before applying heat. The female threaded branch should be made up with an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape applied to the male threads of the mating component.
