The NIBCO B146450 is a cast copper pressure tee fitting used to split or branch copper water lines in residential and commercial plumbing systems. It measures 1 inch by 1 inch on the run with a 3/4 inch branch outlet and uses a C x C x F end connection configuration, meaning the two run ends accept sweat (solder cup) connections while the branch end is a female threaded connection. Cast from copper alloy per ASTM B584, this fitting is suited for pressure-rated water distribution applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction, remodel, or repair work on potable water and hydronic heating systems.
This fitting is designed for use in pressure water supply and distribution piping where a 1-inch main line requires a 3/4-inch threaded branch takeoff. Common applications include domestic hot and cold water supply, radiant heating loops, and light commercial plumbing systems. The sweat-by-sweat-by-female configuration allows the installer to solder into the main line run while connecting a threaded adapter, valve, or fixture directly to the branch port without an additional fitting.
Designed as an OEM-style pressure fitting for use with standard 1-inch and 3/4-inch copper tubing in residential and commercial plumbing and hydronic piping systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and drain the water supply line completely before cutting into existing pipe. Clean all sweat-end pipe and fitting surfaces with emery cloth and flux before soldering, and use lead-free solder for any potable water application. Thread connections on the female branch port should be made with an appropriate thread sealant or tape rated for potable water service.
