The NIBCO B146250 is a cast copper pressure tee designed for use in potable water, hydronic heating, and general plumbing distribution systems. It features a reducing branch configuration sized at 3/4 inches by 1/2 inches by 3/4 inches, with end connections arranged as C x C x F — sweat on the run ends and a female threaded branch outlet. Cast copper construction provides strength and leak-resistant joints when properly soldered. The fitting weighs 0.28 pounds and ships as a single unit. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting wherever a branch takeoff with a threaded female connection is required.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations. It is commonly used when branching off a 3/4 inch copper main line to a 1/2 inch threaded branch connection, such as a shutoff valve, gauge port, or threaded adapter. The sweat run connections allow for direct copper-to-copper soldering on the main line, while the female threaded branch accepts a standard male-threaded fitting or valve.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation pressure fitting compatible with standard 3/4 inch and 1/2 inch copper tubing systems following ASME B16.22 dimensional standards.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into existing lines. Clean and flux all sweat connection surfaces before soldering, and ensure the threaded branch connection is made with an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape. Do not over-tighten the threaded branch fitting, as cast copper threads can be damaged by excess torque.
