The NIBCO B057000 is a cast copper 90-degree close rough elbow designed for pressure piping systems in residential and commercial plumbing installations. This fitting connects copper pipe in a 90-degree turn using a standard sweat (C x C) end connection on both ends. The close rough pattern makes it suitable for tight-clearance installations where a standard-radius elbow will not fit. At 3 inches inlet by 2 inches outlet, it also serves as a reducing elbow, combining a directional change and a pipe size transition in a single fitting. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this component.
This elbow is used in copper pressure piping systems for potable water supply, hydronic heating, and general plumbing distribution lines. The reducing configuration — 3 inches inlet to 2 inches outlet — is commonly found where a main distribution trunk steps down to a branch line while also changing direction. The C x C sweat ends require soldering with appropriate flux and solder per local plumbing code requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for copper pressure piping systems using standard C x C sweat connections in 3 inches x 2 inches reducing configurations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off and depressurize the water system and drain the affected piping before cutting or soldering. Clean and flux all pipe ends and fitting cups thoroughly before making sweat joints. Avoid overheating the fitting during soldering, as excessive heat can cause porosity in the joint.
