The NIBCO B056500 is a cast copper 90-degree close rough elbow designed for pressure piping systems in residential and commercial plumbing applications. It features a cup-by-cup (C x C) end connection, allowing it to be soldered directly onto copper tubing for a permanent, leak-resistant joint. The elbow transitions from a 2-inch run to a 1-1/4-inch branch, making it well suited for reducing directional changes in supply or distribution piping. At 0.86 pounds, it is a solid, durable fitting intended for professional installation by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working with copper pressure systems.
This fitting is used in pressure-rated copper piping systems for water distribution, hydronic heating, and general plumbing service. The close rough configuration provides a compact turn radius, useful in tight mechanical spaces where standard elbows may not fit. It is appropriate for both new construction rough-in and retrofit work on existing copper systems. The 2-inch by 1-1/4-inch reducing geometry accommodates branch takeoffs or system transitions without requiring a separate reducer fitting.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use pressure fitting for copper tubing systems conforming to ASTM B88 Type L or Type K specifications in residential and commercial plumbing applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the water system completely before cutting or sweating any fittings. Clean and flux all mating copper surfaces thoroughly before applying heat; proper surface preparation is critical for a sound solder joint. Do not apply excessive heat to the fitting body, as overheating cast copper can compromise joint integrity.
