The NIBCO B024700 is a cast copper pipe adapter designed to transition between a copper sweat (C) connection and a female threaded (F) connection in pressure piping systems. The fitting measures 1/2 inch on the sweat end and 1 inch on the female NPT end, making it a reducing adapter suited for connecting copper tubing to threaded pipe or threaded equipment ports. Cast copper construction meets ASTM B584 standards, providing the corrosion resistance and pressure integrity that plumbing and HVAC installations require. This is a standard plumbing supply fitting typically installed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians during rough-in, retrofit, or equipment hookup work.
This adapter is used in residential and light commercial pressure piping systems where a copper sweat connection must terminate into a female NPT threaded port. Common applications include connecting copper supply lines to threaded valves, manifolds, boiler connections, or equipment inlet fittings. The 1/2 inch x 1 inch reducing configuration is frequently encountered in hydronic heating, domestic water supply, and HVAC refrigerant-adjacent piping where mixed connection types are present.
Designed as an OEM-style pressure fitting replacement or new-installation component for copper sweat-to-female NPT piping assemblies in residential and commercial plumbing and hydronic systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IAPMO or IPC standards. Shut off and depressurize the water or hydronic system completely before cutting into any existing line. The sweat end requires proper flux application, a propane or MAPP torch, and lead-free solder compliant with local codes. Thread the female NPT end onto a male-threaded fitting using appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape; do not overtighten threaded connections on cast copper.
