The NIBCO 60023458 is a copper fitting reducer designed for sweat-connect plumbing applications. It transitions from a 3/4-inch fitting end to a 5/8-inch C (solder cup) end, allowing plumbers to step down copper tubing runs within a system without additional adapters. The fitting x C configuration means one end seats over an existing fitting and the other end accepts standard copper tube. This reducer is a standard component in residential and light commercial copper pipe systems where tube size changes are required.
This reducer is used wherever a copper line must transition from a larger diameter to a smaller diameter in a sweat-soldered system. Typical applications include domestic hot and cold water distribution lines, hydronic heating loops, and other copper plumbing assemblies that require a concentric reduction. Licensed plumbers install this fitting in both new construction and retrofit work.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat fitting for use in standard copper tube plumbing systems requiring a 3/4-inch to 5/8-inch concentric reduction with a fitting x C end configuration.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber using standard sweat-soldering tools including a torch, lead-free solder, and flux rated for potable water service where applicable. Shut off and drain the water supply completely before cutting into any existing line. Follow local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for copper solder fittings. Do not overheat the fitting during soldering, as excessive heat can damage the fitting or adjacent components.
