The NIBCO 39923696458 is a 2-1/2 inch nominal, Class 125 cast iron gate valve in the F-617-O series, designed for full shut-off service in commercial and industrial piping systems. It features an outside stem and yoke (OS&Y) design with a bolted bonnet and solid wedge disc, rated for 200 psi and up to 450 degrees F. The flat face flanged end style suits standard Class 125 cast iron flange connections. Brass trim and synthetic fiber softgoods provide reliable sealing across a broad range of media. A licensed plumber or pipefitter typically installs this valve in mechanical rooms, utility piping, and process lines.
This valve is suited for commercial and industrial applications including hot and cold water systems, HVAC hydronic piping, steam service, compressed air, gas distribution, and general utility services. The OS&Y configuration allows visual confirmation of open or closed position, which is commonly required in fire protection and mechanical system installations. The 8 inch diameter handwheel provides adequate torque for manual operation on 2-1/2 inch lines. Note: per California Section 116875, this valve is not approved for use in potable drinking water service.
Designed for Class 125 flat face flanged piping systems in commercial and industrial HVAC, steam, compressed air, gas, and general utility service applications. Not for use in potable drinking water service per California Section 116875.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes, including ASME B16.1 flanged joint requirements. Shut down and depressurize the system completely before installing or removing the valve. Confirm flange face type and gasket selection match the mating flange to prevent leaks at the joint. The OS&Y stem must be fully retracted (open position) when verifying flow and must not be used for throttling service.
