The NDL INDUSTRIES W1147 is a copper male adapter fitting designed to transition between a sweat (solder) connection and a male pipe thread connection. The fitting measures 7/8 inches on the copper sweat end and 1/2 inch on the male pipe thread (MPT) end. It is used to connect copper tubing to threaded pipe fittings or threaded ports on valves, manifolds, and equipment. Plumbers and HVAC technicians install this type of fitting during new construction and service work where copper tubing must terminate at a threaded fitting or component. The C x MPT configuration means the copper end is soldered and the opposite end threads into a female-threaded fitting or port.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC applications where copper supply lines connect to threaded components. Typical install scenarios include water supply lines, refrigeration piping connections, and hydronic systems where a soldered copper line must terminate at a threaded valve body or equipment port. The 7/8-inch sweat by 1/2-inch MPT sizing is common in applications where a larger-diameter copper line steps down to a standard half-inch threaded fitting.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting compatible with copper tubing systems requiring a transition from a 7/8-inch sweat connection to a 1/2-inch male pipe thread port.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IAPMO or IPC standards. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before soldering. Use proper flux and lead-free solder when making the sweat connection. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the MPT threads before making the threaded connection to ensure a leak-free joint.
