The NDL INDUSTRIES W1021 is a copper reducing coupling designed to connect two copper tubing runs of different diameters using a sweat-solder (C x C) connection on both ends. The fitting transitions from a 1/2-inch line to a 1/4-inch line in a single piece, eliminating the need for adapters or bushings. It is used in refrigeration, HVAC, and plumbing applications where a permanent, leak-tight reduction is required. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and refrigeration mechanics install this fitting as part of copper tubing assemblies in both new construction and retrofit work.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial copper tubing systems where a sweat-solder joint is the specified connection method. Common applications include refrigerant line sets, domestic water supply piping, and hydronic systems that require a hard-copper reducing connection. The C x C end configuration means both the 1/2-inch and 1/4-inch sides accept copper tubing for a direct sweat joint with no threads involved. It is sold in a box quantity of 50 units, making it practical for contractors stocking a van or job-site supply.
Designed as an OEM-style copper sweat fitting compatible with standard hard-drawn and annealed copper tubing conforming to ASTM B88 dimensions in 1/2-inch and 1/4-inch nominal sizes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC-R technician following applicable local plumbing codes and IFGC or IPC requirements. Shut off the water or refrigerant supply and relieve system pressure before cutting into any existing line. Clean both the tubing ends and the fitting socket with emery cloth and apply flux before soldering to ensure a proper, void-free joint. Avoid overheating the fitting, as excessive heat can damage adjacent components and degrade the solder joint.
