The NATIONAL SAFETY APPAREL H92FWPS is an arc-rated fleece balaclava designed to protect the face and neck from arc flash exposure. Rated at 20 calories per square centimeter (cal/cm2) and classified as NFPA 70E Category 2 (CAT 2), this balaclava is worn as part of a layered arc flash PPE ensemble. It is constructed from fleece and sized universally for broad fit across job sites. Electricians and industrial maintenance technicians working on or near energized equipment install this piece to meet arc flash PPE requirements under NFPA 70E.
This balaclava is suited for residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work where a CAT 2 arc flash PPE ensemble is required. It covers the face and neck, areas that are otherwise difficult to protect with a standard hard hat and face shield alone. It is commonly used during switchgear maintenance, panel work, and other energized electrical tasks where the incident energy analysis or table method specifies CAT 2 protection.
Designed as a CAT 2 arc flash PPE component for use in layered arc flash protection ensembles requiring face and neck coverage rated to at least 20 cal/cm2 per NFPA 70E guidelines.
This balaclava is worn by qualified electricians as part of a compliant arc flash PPE ensemble before working on or near energized electrical equipment. De-energize and follow lockout/tagout procedures whenever possible before beginning electrical work. Inspect the garment for damage, burns, or tears before each use and remove from service if any are found. Consult NFPA 70E and your site-specific arc flash hazard analysis to confirm the full ensemble meets the required arc rating for the task.
