The NATIONAL MFG/SPECTRUM BRANDS HHI N342-659 is a heavy-gauge stainless steel slide-action bolt latch designed for securing swinging and sliding doors and gates. Built from rust-resistant stainless steel, it holds up in exterior and high-moisture environments without corroding or degrading. The latch is compatible with vinyl, ACC-treated lumber, and premium woods including cedar and redwood, making it a versatile fastening solution across a wide range of fence, gate, and door applications. A padlock hasp allows the bolt to be locked in the closed position for added access control. The square holes in the mounting base accommodate 1/4-inch carriage bolts, reducing the risk of unauthorized removal.
This latch is suited for residential and light commercial gate and door installations where weather resistance and material compatibility are priorities. It works for both right-handed and left-handed installations on swinging or sliding configurations. Contractors, fence installers, and general tradespeople will find it appropriate for wood, vinyl, and composite gate builds. Each package contains 2 latches. It is carded for retail and jobsite distribution.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation latch for swinging and sliding doors and gates constructed from wood, vinyl, or ACC-treated lumber.
Installation is typically performed with standard hand tools and does not require specialized trade licensing. Mount the latch body and strike to a clean, flat surface, ensuring both components align properly before fastening. When using 1/4-inch carriage bolts through the square base holes for tamper resistance, tighten fasteners securely but avoid over-driving into vinyl or composite substrates. If padlocking, confirm the padlock shackle diameter is compatible with the latch hasp opening before final installation.
