The NATIONAL MFG/SPECTRUM BRANDS HHI N283-853 is a 2-pack of aluminum ferrules and stops designed for use with 1/8 inch non-coated steel cable. Each pack contains 2 ferrules and 2 stops, providing a complete looping solution for cable termination and rigging applications. The aluminum construction keeps weight low while delivering reliable performance at a safe working load of 340 pounds per loop when 2 ferrules are used. Licensed trades and general contractors use these fittings when securing cable assemblies in structural, fencing, and utility installations.
These ferrules and stops are suited for residential and light commercial applications where 1/8 inch non-coated steel cable is specified. Common use cases include cable railing, wire rope rigging, fencing tie-offs, and general cable securing tasks. The 2-pack format covers a single loop termination with hardware to spare, making it a practical add-on for small cable rigging jobs or field repairs. They are carded for retail or counter display.
Designed for use with 1/8 inch non-coated steel cable only. Do not use on coated cable. Ferrules must be used in pairs — always use 2 ferrules per loop to achieve the rated 340-pound safe working load.
Installation is typically performed by general contractors, riggers, or skilled tradespeople familiar with wire rope and cable hardware. Before installing, confirm the cable is non-coated 1/8 inch steel — using these ferrules on coated cable or incorrect cable diameters is unsafe. A proper ferrule swaging or crimping tool should be used to seat ferrules fully; never hammer or improvise the crimp. Never exceed the safe working load of 340 pounds per loop.
