The NATIONAL MFG/SPECTRUM BRANDS HHI N182-718 is a galvanized threaded rod coupler designed to join two sections of threaded rod into a single continuous length. Built to UNC coarse thread specifications at 5/8-11 thread size, it provides a secure, fully engaged connection between rod ends. The corrosion-resistant galvanized finish makes it suitable for use in damp or corrosive environments common in mechanical, plumbing, and structural support applications. This coupler ships in a package quantity of 5 and weighs 0.8 pounds per package. It is installed by licensed mechanical contractors, electricians, and plumbers working on rod hanger and support assemblies.
This coupler is used wherever threaded rod must be extended or spliced in hanging and support systems. Typical applications include HVAC duct hangers, pipe support systems, electrical conduit support rods, and general structural mounting assemblies in both residential and light commercial construction. The galvanized finish supports use in interior mechanical rooms as well as moderately exposed environments. Larger coupler sizes in this product line include witness holes that allow the installer to visually confirm both rod ends are fully threaded through the coupler before load is applied.
Designed as an OEM-style mechanical fastener for use with standard 5/8-11 UNC threaded rod stock commonly used in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical support hanger assemblies.
Installation is performed by licensed mechanical, plumbing, or electrical contractors as part of rod hanger and support systems. Ensure both rod ends are threaded fully through the coupler before applying any load, using the witness holes where present to confirm engagement. Follow applicable building codes including SMACNA, IPC, and NEC support spacing requirements for the specific system being hung. Do not use this coupler as a structural tension fastener beyond its rated thread class without engineering review.
