The NATIONAL MFG/SPECTRUM BRANDS HHI N180-190 is a zinc-plated steel key stock used as a wedge or locking device in shaft keyways to transmit torque in motors and machines. Measuring 3/8 inch wide by 12 inches long, this key stock fits into the keyway between a shaft and a mating hub or gear to prevent rotational slippage under load. Each package contains two pieces. The zinc plating provides corrosion resistance for light-duty and general shop applications. Smooth edges reduce the risk of handling injuries during fitting and installation. The bar can be cut or drilled to suit specific length or mounting requirements on the job.
Key stock in this size range is commonly used in industrial maintenance, HVAC equipment, pump and motor repair, and general mechanical assembly. Technicians reach for this part when replacing worn or sheared keys in shaft-driven components such as blower wheels, pulleys, couplings, and impellers. The 12-inch length provides material to cut multiple shorter keys as needed, making it a practical shop consumable for maintenance facilities and field service vans.
Designed as a general-purpose key stock for use in standard shaft keyways on motors, pumps, blowers, and other rotating equipment requiring a 3/8-inch key.
Key stock installation is typically performed by licensed mechanics, millwrights, HVAC technicians, or maintenance professionals. Always de-energize and lock out the equipment before removing or installing key stock in any rotating assembly. Use a file, hacksaw, or appropriate metalworking tools to cut the key to the required length; deburr cut edges before fitting. Confirm the key seats fully in the keyway without binding before reassembling the hub or pulley and returning the equipment to service.
