The hot-dip galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance suited for demanding environments. This flat bar can be drilled on-site to accommodate fasteners and custom layouts. It is not recommended for welding, as the galvanized coating produces hazardous fumes when exposed to welding heat and will degrade the zinc layer at the weld zone. Licensed contractors, ironworkers, and general tradespeople are the typical installers.
This flat bar is appropriate for light structural reinforcement, base plate fabrication, mounting brackets, and general industrial support work in both residential construction and commercial or industrial facilities. Power down or de-energize any adjacent electrical systems before drilling. Use appropriate PPE when drilling galvanized steel, as metal dust and zinc particles are a respiratory hazard. Do not weld this bar — galvanized coatings release zinc oxide fumes when heated, presenting a serious health risk and violating safe welding practices.
