The NATIONAL MFG/SPECTRUM BRANDS HHI N179-580 is a zinc-plated threaded rod measuring 1/4-20 x 72 inches with UNC coarse threads. Threaded rod stock is used across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general construction trades for hanging, anchoring, and fastening assemblies. This rod meets ASTM A37 Grade A standards with a minimum tensile strength of 6 KSI. The zinc finish provides basic corrosion resistance for light-duty indoor and sheltered applications. Sold in a package of 2, these rods are designed to be cut, drilled, heated, or shaped in the field to fit the required installation length and configuration.
This threaded rod is suited for residential and light commercial applications where a standard 1/4-20 UNC fastener is specified. Common uses include mounting strut channel, supporting conduit hangers, securing pipe clamps, suspending HVAC equipment, and general all-thread anchoring tasks. The 72-inch length provides enough stock for most single-run hanger installations or can be cut down to shorter segments as needed on the job.
Designed as a standard 1/4-20 UNC threaded rod for use with compatible nuts, couplings, hangers, and strut hardware that accept a 1/4-20 thread pattern.
Threaded rod installation is typically performed by HVAC technicians, plumbers, or electricians during rough-in and equipment-mounting phases. Use a pipe cutter or hacksaw to cut the rod to length, and clean up thread ends with a die or file before installing hardware. Ensure mounting anchors and fasteners are rated for the intended load before hanging equipment. Follow applicable mechanical and building codes for hanger spacing and load requirements.
