The NATIONAL MFG/SPECTRUM BRANDS HHI N179-523 is a zinc-plated threaded rod measuring 7/16-14 inches in diameter by 36 inches in length with UNC coarse thread. This all-thread rod is fabricated to meet ASTM A37 Grade A standards, delivering a minimum tensile strength of 6 KSI. It is designed for use in mechanical fastening, hanging, and structural support applications across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general construction trades. The zinc finish provides corrosion resistance for both interior and light-duty exterior installations. The rod ships in a package of 3 pieces, making it practical for multi-point installations or jobsite stock.
This threaded rod is suited for residential and light commercial applications where a field-adjustable fastening element is needed. It can be drilled, cut, heated, and shaped on the job, giving installers the flexibility to fit the rod to specific hanger assemblies, strut channel systems, unistrut supports, or custom mounting configurations. HVAC technicians, pipefitters, electricians, and general contractors commonly use this type of rod for equipment support, duct hanging, conduit supports, and pipe hanger assemblies.
Designed as a standard UNC 7/16-14 threaded rod compatible with matching nuts, couplings, beam clamps, and strut fittings used in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical support applications.
Installation is typically performed by HVAC technicians, pipefitters, electricians, or general contractors. Cut the rod to length using a hacksaw or abrasive cutoff wheel and dress the cut end before threading a nut. Follow applicable building codes and local authority requirements for hanger spacing and load ratings when used in pipe or duct support systems. Always de-energize electrical systems and isolate any pressurized lines before performing work in areas where the rod will be installed.
