The NATIONAL MFG/SPECTRUM BRANDS HHI N179-333 is a zinc-plated threaded rod designed for fastening, hanging, and anchoring applications across mechanical, plumbing, and electrical trades. Measuring 3/8-16 x 12 inches with UNC coarse threads, this rod meets ASTM A37 Grade A standards and carries a minimum tensile strength of 6 KSI. The zinc finish provides basic corrosion resistance for indoor and light-duty exposed installations. Each package contains 5 rods. The rod material supports field modification — it can be drilled, cut, heated, or shaped to fit the specific demands of an installation without special tooling.
This threaded rod is suited for residential and light commercial applications where all-thread rod is needed to suspend pipe hangers, HVAC duct supports, electrical conduit strut, or structural connections. Installers in plumbing, HVAC, and electrical trades routinely use 3/8-16 all-thread in unistrut channel and beam clamp assemblies. The 12-inch length works well as a starter length that can be cut to finished dimension on the job, or used as-is for standard drop hanger applications where shorter spans are required.
Designed as a standard 3/8-16 UNC threaded rod for use with compatible nuts, beam clamps, pipe hangers, strut channel hardware, and threaded rod couplings in residential and light commercial mechanical, plumbing, and electrical installations.
Threaded rod installation is performed by plumbers, HVAC technicians, and electricians depending on application. De-energize all circuits and shut off fluid systems before securing supports to live systems. When cutting rod to length, use a thread chaser or die to clean the cut end before installing hardware. Reference applicable codes such as the IPC, IFGC, or NEC for required hanger spacing and support loading when using threaded rod in pipe or conduit suspension work.
