The NATIONAL MFG/SPECTRUM BRANDS HHI N160-747 is a zinc steel door and gate latch built for heavy-duty agricultural and livestock applications. The all-purpose design features an easy-operating handle that also serves as a pull, and the latch bar operates in either left- or right-hand orientation without modification. The bar is held securely in place by two sets of guides and back plates. Those back plates create a solid bearing surface that prevents the bar from grooving into the wood over repeated use. The extra-strong bar strike has rounded edges to reduce wear and snagging. Each package includes screws for installation.
This latch is intended for horse barns, livestock enclosures, gates, and similar agricultural structures where a reliable, vandal-resistant closure is required. The zinc steel construction holds up to outdoor exposure and the wear that comes with daily use in a working barn or paddock setting. The latch can be secured with a padlock using a compatible 33S plate staple, making it suitable for enclosures that require a lockable closure. It is packaged in a quantity of five units per pack, making it practical for multi-gate installations or facility-wide standardization.
Designed for use on wooden doors and gates in horse barns, livestock enclosures, and similar agricultural structures. Lockable using a 33S plate staple and padlock.
Installation is a general carpentry task requiring basic hand tools such as a drill and screwdriver. Mount the latch bar assembly and strike plate to a solid wood surface capable of bearing operational load. Ensure the gate or door is properly aligned and plumb before fastening to achieve consistent latch engagement. When adding a padlock, confirm the 33S plate staple is correctly positioned through the strike loop before applying the lock.
