The NASHUA 557-SILVER_2X60YD is a premium-grade, single-coated duct tape engineered for heavy-duty HVAC, mechanical, and construction applications. It measures 2 inches wide by 60 yards long and carries a 14 mil total thickness. The backing is polyethylene-coated cloth, which delivers high tensile strength and tear resistance. The adhesive is an aggressive natural rubber formulation that bonds firmly to sheet metal, flex duct, rigid board, and most common substrate materials. Low VOC content makes it suitable for use in occupied or partially occupied spaces where air quality standards apply. Licensed HVAC technicians, sheet metal workers, and mechanical contractors are the primary installers.
This tape is used for sealing, patching, bundling, and repairing duct systems in residential and commercial HVAC installations. It conforms well to curved and irregular duct surfaces, making it practical for wrapping flex duct transitions and sealing joints on sheet metal trunk lines. The rubber adhesive maintains grip across a temperature range of 40 degrees F to 200 degrees F, covering most supply and return duct environments. Its moisture and mold resistance supports long-term performance in attic, crawlspace, and mechanical room installations. The tape meets UL 181B-FX requirements and can contribute toward LEED EA Credit 1 and EQ Credit 4.1 compliance documentation.
Designed for heavy-duty sealing, patching, bundling, and repair of sheet metal and flexible duct systems in residential and commercial HVAC installations. Meets UL 181B-FX listing requirements for use on Class 1 flexible air ducts and air connectors.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal workers following local mechanical codes and SMACNA duct construction standards. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust or grease before application to ensure full adhesive contact. Power down the air handling system before accessing and sealing interior duct sections. Do not use this tape on high-temperature exhaust flues, B-vent, or any surface that exceeds the 200 degrees F temperature rating.
